Writes of Passage:

Finding Space, Support, Clarity and Healing through Writing

Most of us are so busy and overwhelmed that we barely have time to acknowledge the big events in our lives, much less integrate them. A few decades ago, we moved through life with support from our community. These days, many of us are feeling disconnected on deep level, despite being more technologically connected than ever.

When we don’t have the time or space to acknowledge the events that shape us, it’s normal to feel lost, trapped or overwhelmed, without the support and resources we need to move into the next chapter of our lives.

Writing can provide that support and space, as well as serve as a resource to help us move through life-changing events in a meaningful and authentic way. In addition to connecting us to our innermost wisdom, writing helps heal the stories of our lives as well as helps us find clarity in moving forward.

In 19 years of teaching and writing, I’ve experienced the life-changing magic of writing over and over again—for myself as well as by watching my clients connect with their inner wisdom in order to move forward with more freedom, ease and joy.

As bestselling author and researcher Brene Brown often says, “When we deny our stories, they define us. When we own our stories, we get to write the ending.”

Tanja Pajevic’s Writes of Passage workshop was an inspiring, empowering experience! Tanja has the amazing talent of creating a totally positive and magical environment where each participant can feel comfortable and confident enough to share their most intimate work while giving deeply reflective and creative feedback to others.  She is the kind of mentor that makes you feel not only supported and encouraged in your writing endeavors, but also in life’s challenges.

Module 1: Creating Breathing Room

We’ll start by creating time and space, just for you. When we go through big events in our lives, finding the time and space to address those changes can be scary. In this powerful first module, we’ll create a safe space for our writing, identify resources to support us as we move forward, and take the time and space to clarify what’s most meaningful in our lives—right here, and right now.

You will discover:

  • The 20/4 Writing Prescription: Why writing for as little as 20 minutes for four days can make you healthier and happier.
  • Why you don’t have to be a writer for this work to benefit you.
  • Why “toughening up” and “powering through” just make our lives harder—and what you can do about it.

You will receive:

  • Blueprint: 5 Techniques for Finding Your Power and Your People.
  • Compass: Recharging with Meaning and Purpose: 50 Time-Outs When You Most Need Them.
  • Guided direction and community support.

Module 2: Honoring What’s Brought Us Here

In this module, we’ll gently look at the life events, circumstances and beliefs that have brought us to where we are today. We’ll show you why critical self-talk and perfectionism keep us trapped and create more suffering, while self-compassion and self-acceptance free us.

You will discover:

  • How to Unmask Your Inner Critic.
  • Why Self-Compassion is Your Get Out of Jail Free Card.
  • The foundational belief that’s keeping you stuck.

You will receive:

  • Blueprint: Kristin Neff’s foolproof method for getting through tough times.
  • Compass: Crafting Your Powerful, Healing Letter to Your Younger Self Worksheet.

Module 3: Shining a Light on What’s Holding Us Back

In this module, we’ll safely look at the sticking points in our lives. After getting ourselves physically and emotionally resourced, we’ll explore the people and events that are keeping us caught in an old story, not the one we want to be living in today.

You will discover:

  • What it really takes to forgive.
  • Why allowing yourself to be vulnerable is your most powerful next step.
  • Why telling the whole story can set you free.

You will receive:

  • Blueprint: Three Rituals for Releasing Anger and Pain.
  • Compass: The #1 Guideline You MUST Follow When Sharing Your Story in Order to Stay Safe, Healthy and Happy.

Module 4: Creating a New Story

In this module, we’ll plant the seeds for moving forward, as well as delve into the brain science involved in choosing your next steps. You’ll clarify exactly what it is you want out of the next chapter of your life (not what others want for you).

You will discover:

  • Why our brains and adrenal systems run the show—IF we allow them to run on default.
  • Why Shadow Comforts Keep Us Stuck (and What to Do About It).
  • Why the Brain is like Velcro for Negative Experiences and Teflon for Positive Ones (and How to Change that Equation).

You will receive:

  • Blueprint: How to Quickly and Easily Retrain Your Brain in 5-10 Minutes a Day.
  • Compass: Befriending Your Inner Mentor Guided Meditation.

Module 5: Moving Forward with Grace and Courage

In this module, we’ll delve into the tips and tools you’ll need on your authentic and meaningful life path. We’ll set up tips and tools to help you stay centered in today’s busy world, and identify resources for when life throws you a curveball.

  • The people, places and activities that most support you.
  • Why we put other people’s needs and wants ahead of our own (and what to do about it).

You will receive:

  • Blueprint: Your personal Values Worksheet to help clarify your current values (not what others expect from you).
  • Compass: What to Do When Worksheet: Moving Past Sticking Points.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What if I can’t attend live?

A: This program is designed to work whether you can attend live or not, and call recordings will always be posted right away. You’ll still get to participate fully in the program and can always ask your questions or participate in discussion via the online forum.

Q: Do I need to be a writer to take this workshop?

A: Nope! The writing exercises we do are designed to be accessible to everyone. And I’ll never ask you to share anything that you don’t feel comfortable with.

Q: How much of our writing will we share with the group?

A: Nothing you don’t feel comfortable with. In fact, I encourage you not to share any writing or stories that feel raw or unhealed, as it complicates (and can even prolong) the healing process.

Q: What will the community aspect of this program be like?

A: Writes of Passage offers an opportunity to connect with others who are interested in acknowledging the big events that have shaped their lives, and then moving forward. Instead of giving each other advice, we’ll focus on witnessing and holding space for each other. We’ll do this in the weekly discussion threads under each lesson.

Q: Who shouldn’t take this course?

A: This course isn’t for you if you’re depressed or struggling with acute or complicated grief. In that case, please see a licensed therapist.

Q: Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

A: I do. If you feel like the course isn’t a good fit for you after doing the first module, I offer a 7-day money-back guarantee. Please contact me within 7 days of the first module (that’s 5/2/17 for this course) and I’ll be happy to refund your money.

Q: I’m having technical troubles signing up.

A: Drop me a line at tanja [at] tanjapajevic [dot] com and we’ll get you set up. (P.S.: If you don’t hear from me within 48 hours, check your spam filter to make sure my message didn’t get stranded.)

Q: I just signed up and now I’m scared that I made the wrong choice!

A: It’s completely normal to feel scared or nervous after signing up. That’s because as soon as you commit to acknowledging those big life events, your subconscious starts the healing process. So even though it might feel scary, it’s actually a good sign.

Q: Why can’t I join the course after it starts?

A: Starting together helps maintain the safety and integrity of the group.

Q: I’m not sure if this timing is right for me. When will you teach this course again?

A: Right now, it looks like I’ll probably offer this course again in fall 2017, though the price may increase. If this is something you’d like to explore before then, remember that all of the calls are available to you to work through at your own pace. You’ll have lifetime access and can listen to them at any time.

Q: I’m still on the fence. I don’t know how to decide!

A: Here’s a short exercise that can help you decide which decision feels right for you:

Place your feet on the ground and take a few deep breaths to ground yourself. Now imagine you’ve signed up for the course. How does your body feel? Does your body feel tight? Anxious? Or does it feel relaxed, spacious?

Take another deep breath or two to clear that energy. Now imagine your haven’t signed up for the course. What do you feel in your belly? Tight? Constricted? Or ease? Use your body’s wisdom to help you decide what’s right for you.

Healing After Grief and LossHealing After Grief and Loss

Most of us are so busy and overwhelmed that we barely have time to acknowledge the losses from big changes in our life, whether that’s the death of a loved one, a move or divorce, the end of a job or friendship, or any other major life transition. But when we don’t acknowledge those losses, we get stuck. Buried, unacknowledged emotions eat up our energy and deplete us, clouding who we are and what we’re capable of. Worse, they tend to surface when we least expect it, often to disastrous results.

Don’t let your unacknowledged losses waylay you any longer. This year, give yourself the gift of time and space so that you can start moving forward again. Because once we’re able to come to terms with our story, we get to rewrite the ending.

During this guided, 5-week online course you’ll:

  • learn how to reconnect with your true self
  • unpack the story of your loss, and learn the wisdom it carries
  • learn what it really takes to forgive
  • revitalize your relationships
  • open up to possibility and
  • start moving forward again.

Busyness [almost prevented me from taking the workshop]. Also possibly feeling like the thing I was grieving happened so long ago . . . I found that everyone has these feelings and we don’t often get to connect on that level. Doing so was a wonderful and helpful process. It felt good to be real about grief and loss and how it reverberates in our lives over time . . . I left the retreat feeling like my energy was no longer being swallowed by my grief. So much freedom and joy in that!           — Rise K.
